Do You Need A Passion To Live A Fulfilling Life?

Do you have a passion?

It’s a question that gets asked a lot—almost as if having a clearly defined passion is a requirement for a meaningful life. Truthfully, I’m not sure I’ve ever had one in the traditional sense.

Passion is often defined as a strong affection or intense enthusiasm for something. You hear people talk about a “passion for poetry,” a “passion for art,” or a “passion for their craft.” It sounds powerful, focused… almost singular.

But what if your interests don’t work that way?

Take golf, for example. I genuinely enjoy playing. I look forward to getting out on the course, and I’m always trying to improve—tweaking my swing, thinking through strategy, appreciating the challenge of the game. There’s definitely enthusiasm there. But I don’t feel the need to play every single day. So is that passion… or simply enjoyment?

The same goes for sports more broadly. I’ve spent my career working in athletics as a university equipment manager, and it’s been incredibly rewarding. There’s a sense of purpose, structure, and connection that comes with being part of a team environment. But if I’m being honest, that feeling isn’t constant. Some days it’s energizing. Other days, it’s just work. Does that mean it isn’t a passion?

What I’ve come to realize is this: maybe the idea of needing one defining passion is too narrow.

I don’t have one single thing that consumes me—but I do have something else. I have curiosity.

I’ve always been drawn to learning. Not in a deep, all-consuming way about one subject, but in a broad, exploratory way across many. I enjoy discovering new ideas, testing different habits, exploring unfamiliar paths, and seeing where they lead. I might not go all-in on any one interest, but I consistently go forward.

And that, in its own way, has been deeply fulfilling.

Every morning, I wake up with a quiet sense of curiosity—What can I learn today? What can I explore? That mindset has shaped my life far more than any single passion ever has.

That’s why I created this site.

It’s for those of us who don’t feel defined by one burning passion, but instead by a steady desire to learn, experience, and grow. It’s for the curious—the ones who find meaning not in a single pursuit, but in the journey of exploring many.

Here, I’ll be diving into ideas, practices, and paths that spark interest—whether that’s mindfulness, creativity, health, alternative ways of living, or simply new ways of thinking. Not as an expert, but as a fellow explorer.

If you’ve ever felt like you should have a passion but don’t quite fit that mold, you’re not alone.

Maybe fulfillment doesn’t come from chasing one thing.

Maybe it comes from staying curious about everything.

Come along for the journey.
